From a cherished gardening space to a vital refuge during home renovations, this greenhouse perfectly blends functionality with aesthetic appeal. Designed during a ten-day isolation period amid the COVID pandemic, our client transformed a blank canvas into a gardener’s paradise.

Discovery and Decision

The owners first heard of Alitex through a garden magazine and their visit to the Chelsea Flower Show, where they were captivated by the brand’s high-quality craftsmanship and innovative designs.

Their decision was solidified by several factors: the short lead time, practical features like the underground rainwater tank and external blinds, and the greenhouse’s soft, subtle color that highlighted the frame against the backdrop of garden trees.

Installation and Early Use

Upon installation during a wet October week, the first item placed in the greenhouse was a fan heater to dry it out. This was soon followed by a treasured Begonia, marking the beginning of its use as a nurturing space for cherished plants.

The benches within the greenhouse, ideal for accommodating numerous plants, quickly became a favorite feature. With a lifetime of gardening experience, the owners are currently growing vegetables, annuals, perennials from seed, and various cuttings.

Beyond Gardening

The greenhouse has shown its versatility beyond gardening. During a period of major building works, it became a warm, dry sanctuary, demonstrating its value as a multifaceted space.
