10.30am Tuesday 19th October at RHS Wisley.
Whether you know a lot about gardening or are a novice you should find this talk fascinating. Ken will be exploring many gardening myths including companion planting, does it work and why does it work; planting by the moon - how and why; how good are 'superfoods' and are there better alternatives.
Dr Thompson has played a significant role as a senior lecturer in plant ecology at Sheffield University for over 20 years where the science of gardening has become of great interest to him. He has written numerous books including four popular gardening books, most recently 'No Nettles Required', 'Compost' and 'The Book of Weeds'. He acts as a consultant for many professional horticultural bodies including the RHS - in fact he is featured in the June issue of The Garden magazine.
Ken likes to modestly say that his career has so far been marked by a complete failure to win any prizes or awards of any kind - it will definitely be an entertaining talk!
The morning will start with coffee and cake, and following the talk there will be an opportunity to see the amazing Alpine collection with Wisley's Paul Cumbleton.
