Private Estate in Leicestershire | England
The glasshouse is to provide a focal point for a Grade II* listed walled garden in Leicestershire. With the sensitive nature of this site the Alitex Thomas Messenger system was chosen due to its ‘timber’ glazing profile.
The glasshouse has two wings or zones; one is used as a hot house for growing orchids, peppers and unusual ornamentals and the other for bedding and pot plant production. The central lobby contains artwork and seasonal arrangements of plants.
The glasshouse has a potting shed attached at the rear which houses the boiler and heating controls.
The gardens which surround the structure are offset at 45 degrees to contrast with the lines of the glasshouse and are a modern take on an ornamental potager – inspired by the wonderful planting at Villandry.
