Restored Walled Garden on Isle of Wight | England
As a landscape designer, Phillippa Lambert creates gardens for her clients. With Old Park Phillippa was able to restore this Victorian walled garden on the Isle of Wight for herself. The 2 acre lake and walled garden are part of a significant marine residence in the 'Undercliff' which is a natural landform of dramatic cliffs which has produced a protected virtually frost-free microclimate in which sub-tropical plants can flourish within sight of the sea.
Phillppa spent 2 years reintroducing the essential elements of the garden including the lean-to greenhouse, cold frames, potting shed and access paths - all set up to grow the magical mixture of fruit, vegetables and flowers.
The long central vista, flanked by flowers on either side, is terminated in specatular style by the 30 foot greenhouse painted a soft white, completed with cold frames either side of the door.
