Bespoke greenhouse design

Using the finest British materials, our carefully designed aluminium greenhouses provide the same elegant appearance and growing experience as Victorian timber frames. Requiring less external maintenance, we create a classic growing environment that is beautiful to look at and will complement your garden throughout the year.

We always ensure that our classic Victorian greenhouses will complement your garden and fulfil your growing needs. To achieve this, it is essential for our design team to visit you at home to fully appreciate your unique surroundings and specific requirements. Our design team are sufficiently flexible in providing anything from a quiet refuge to a modern icon or a striking celebration of Victoriana.

At Alitex, it is you, your garden and your plants that determine the design of your greenhouse. Once we have a complete understanding of your surroundings and design vision, we take your specifications to our design studio, where we will present you with a set of initial concept drawings. We work together with you until the final design is perfected and the ground plan is signed off. Once signed off, the engineering team will develop production drawings so that your greenhouse design can be manufactured in our on-site factory.

In sensitive sites where you may have a listed building, or work with English Heritage, we have developed a greenhouse inspired by Thomas Messenger to overcome some of these obstacles. Our Thomas Messenger style is crafted from the highest quality aluminium, recreating traditional timber detailing; covering nuts, bolts and joint beading, making the greenhouse more attractive inside and out.

Intelligent design

Alitex greenhouse designers use the latest 3D computer-aided design software to construct your ‘virtual’ greenhouse prior to manufacture. This gives us confidence in every project, which is especially important for overseas structures in varied locations and climate conditions. Our 3D design software assists us in the following:

  • Identifies any site problems prior to installation
  • 3D visualisation aids design and checking
  • 3D models then link directly to the manufacturing process
  • Our engineers have access to computer-aided analysis tools
  • All our greenhouses are designed in accordance with relevant wind loading, snow loading and materials standards, for example; British Standards, Kite-marks and Euronorms industry recognition
  • Each design can be fully optimised to minimise the frame sections and maximise the glass to allow more light

All designs are tested in our 3D computer studio and to ensure a perfect final fit. State of the art CAD-CAM (Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture) software seamlessly transfers your design data to our CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, which:
  1. Enables minimal lead times and improved quality
  2. Improves accuracy and fit of the parts
  3. Gives us improved consistency of manufacture
  4. Minimises the use of paper so it's more environmentally friendly.

Precision engineering and good old fashioned craftsmanship

We are proud of our team and on-site factory and are continually improving every aspect of our processes, equipment and training. We constantly seek new ways to improve our process, and have a dedicated R&D team who are on a continual quest for perfection.

Our team of skilled craftsmen are at the heart of our ability to build anything from a National Trust Hidcote to some of the largest bespoke greenhouse projects around the world.

All our craftsmen and designers possess a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of our sustainable materials. For testing, we use the latest 3D CAD software and finite elements analysis software to ensure we are providing the best structurally integral greenhouse.

Once your greenhouse has successfully completed its journey through our factory, it is ready to be installed in your garden. Our team of greenhouse engineers will assemble your greenhouse with the care and precision that it deserves - and will not leave the site until you are happy.

We hold many open days and events at Torberry and the tour of the factory is a popular  highlight. You can keep up to date with our most recent developments in our blog 'The Green Room'.

“What makes our greenhouses special? We have always been keen to listen to and act on feedback from many areas – customers, contractors and employees. This has fostered an environment where we continually look at areas we can improve, whether it is the latest software or a staff allotment.

Investment in training and equipment is strongly seen as a way of driving the company and its team forward, to try and meet and exceed our commitment to our customers. We have a wealth of vast,  in depth knowledge around our product and technology across every department. A positive ‘can do’ attitude is actively encouraged and indeed is the ‘norm’ across the board.”
